When the Holidays Aren't Your Thing

Hello !!

It gets to this time of the year and there’s always a whole lot of talk about it being
the most wonderful time of the year.”

However, for a lot of people, Thanksgiving and Christmas are hard.

It’s a time that reminds them of those that aren’t there with them.

The holidays reminds them of all that they’ve lost.

Sometimes people are facing hardships such as money shortages, homelessness, illness, relationship struggles, anxiety and depression challenges...and the list can go on and on.

Every struggle is personal and every struggle is VALID!

For many different reasons, the holiday season can generally be a hard time of year for a lot of people.

If any of that resonates with you, please know this;

it’s okay

if it’s not

the most wonderful time of the year

It’s okay to feel things during the holidays

Thanksgiving and Christmas aren't times when we have to automatically forget everything that we’ve got going on in our lives.

It’s not a time where all negative emotions have to be thrown out of the window to make room for the holly jolly.

It’s okay if during the holidays things are too much for you. It’s okay if you feel overwhelmed by everything you’re facing.

The holidays aren't the magic antidote to all the problems you’ll ever face in your life. It’s okay if things aren’t magically better just because it’s the holidays.

If you need to feel things then that’s perfectly okay.

If holidays brings up bad memories…

For some people, holidays rakes up memories from the past that they’d rather forget.

Whether that’s memories of loved ones lost, relationships fallen apart, trauma experienced or whatever else.

The holidays can be a ridiculously hard time of year for so many people.

If you’re one of those people, I’m sorry.

I’m sorry that the holidays are hard for you.

I feel you.

Let's talk.

If I can't help, I can help you find people who can help!

If the holidays bring up memories that are too hard for you to experience, then you don’t have to celebrate.

You don’t have to celebrate if it’s too painful for you.

Put your own mental health first over the pressure to celebrate the holiday season.

Just because it’s the holidays doesn’t mean that help services shut down.

If you need help, then it’s always available.

Below are just a few of the helpful numbers

 and

resources that you can reach out to if you need to.
