Back to School-August 29th/How to Succeed at Online School

Can you believe that it is almost August?

Where did July go?

I hope you all are having a great summer!

Not to be the bearer of bad news

but

school at Link Learning resumes on

August 29!

With the said, I thought I would post some

tips

on how to maximize your online

learning experience!

learning from home

How to Succeed at Online School

1. Organize, organize, organize.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a plan when learning online on your own. You don’t have a school bell or teachers telling you to go to class, so it can be easy to forget about time.

When I was taking online classes for my college degrees, I would make a daily plan about what material I had to cover that day.

I would incorporate specific break times. Because I was also working a full time job, I had my day planned out to the minute.

Please contact me if you'd like us to help you make a "study schedule".

2. Minimize distractions and procrastination.

Sitting at home or in bed while notifications ping on your phone and your siblings run by with a pack of chips can distract you from studying.

Create a designated study area for yourself in your room or at a desk where you normally study.

Put your phone on silent or even turn it off and tell your family and friends not to interrupt you because you are doing your school work.

3. Prepare for your classes in advance and ask for support.

Take advantage of your Support Coach, Mentor and your Teacher’s office hours and reach out if you have questions

(We like hearing from you and we like helping you).

Starting August 1 we are available from

8am -3:00pm, Monday-Friday!

5. Use online resources.

There are hundreds of online resources available for students to use.

I try to use books as well as online lectures and videos to understand the material.

Currently, many websites are offering free resources to students, so take advantage of all the options available to you because preparing for exams is a lot harder without a teacher by your side.

Finally, online classes may sometimes make you feel like you are learning on your own, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Mentors, Teachers and the Support Coach are actively encouraging students to check in and reach out if they have questions, need support or a reminder that they aren't alone in the learning process.

Online classes are an excellent option to help you earn your high school diploma.

Though they come with their own unique challenges, following the advice above can help you be successful even in the most chaotic of times.
